Coverage

Which Highland towns can get full fibre?

Highland Broadband lists these Highland areas, including the surrounding villages. Not every address is connected yet and some areas are still being built, so always check your own postcode.

Elsewhere in rural Scotland

The same network reaches villages outside the Highlands. These are the places listed as live:

Moray

Aberlour, Craigellachie

Argyll

Benderloch, Connel, North Connel, Taynuilt

Fife

Aberdour, Kinghorn

East Lothian

Craigielaw, East Linton, Gifford, Gullane, Longniddry and nearby villages

Stirlingshire

Cowie, Fallin, Plean, Throsk

More communities are being built or planned. If yours isn't listed, Highland Broadband lets you pre-order, which locks in today's price.

Choosing

Which package should you choose?

Essential 150 · £24.99

One or two people who browse, stream and video call.

Everyday 500 · £29.99

A family streaming, gaming and working from home at the same time.

Best value

Family 1000 · £34.99

Double the speed of Everyday 500 for £5 more, plus Whole Home WiFi, cyber security and parental controls. Whole Home WiFi is £5 a month on the cheaper two.

Ultimate 5000 · £39.99

Heavy users moving huge files or running home servers. Most homes won't notice the difference over 1,000Mbps.

If full fibre hasn't reached you yet

Large parts of the Highlands are still waiting. Until it arrives, you have options.

Check other networks

Openreach and others are also building, partly through the Scottish Government's R100 (Reaching 100%) programme. Ofcom's broadband checker shows every network at your address.

4G or 5G home broadband

A router with a SIM inside can beat slow copper if you get good signal at home. An unlimited data SIM in a 4G router is a cheap way to try it.

Satellite broadband

Low-orbit satellite services work almost anywhere with a clear view of the sky. Pricier and needs a dish, but often fastest for remote crofts and glens.

Ask about vouchers

If no network plans to reach you, the Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme and the UK Gigabit Voucher scheme can help pay for a connection, especially when neighbours apply together.

Frequently asked questions

Is Highland Broadband only in the Highlands?

No. Despite the name, it also covers villages in Moray, Argyll, Fife, East Lothian and Stirlingshire. It builds in rural communities that bigger providers have been slow to reach.

Does installation cost anything?

No. Installation is free on every package. You get a Wi-Fi router included (Wi-Fi 7 on Ultimate 5000).

Will my price go up?

Yes, by a fixed £4 a month each April, starting in April 2027. Ofcom rules mean providers must show rises in pounds and pence, so you know exactly what you'll pay over the contract.

Can I switch from BT or Openreach-based broadband?

Yes. Under Ofcom's One Touch Switch process you usually only need to contact the new provider, and they arrange the switch. Highland Broadband also offers up to 12 months of switching credit to help with exit fees from your old contract.

Patchy mobile signal too?

Compare SIM-only plans on every big network, from £5 a month with no contract.
