A digital SIM you download onto your phone by scanning a QR code. It gives you mobile data abroad without swapping out your normal SIM card.
Will my phone work with an eSIM?
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer and recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models. Your phone also needs to be unlocked. Check your phone's settings for "Add eSIM" before you buy.
Do I need one for Europe?
Maybe not. Many UK SIM-only plans include EU roaming, including 1pMobile and Asda Mobile. Check your own plan first. A Europe eSIM is handy if yours charges for roaming.
Can I still get calls and texts on my UK number?
Yes. Keep your normal SIM switched on for calls and texts, and set the travel eSIM as your mobile data line. Your UK network may charge for calls and texts abroad.
When should I install it?
Install it at home on Wi-Fi a day or two before you travel, then switch it on when you land.
