The cheapest 5G SIM we list is 1pMobile's 5GB plan at £5 a month, or £55 paid once for 12 months (£4.58 a month). For more data, iD Mobile has 80GB for £10 a month on a rolling plan, and the cheapest unlimited 5G SIM is Chattr at £15 a month. All include 5G at no extra cost. Prices checked on 5 November 2026.

5G can be noticeably faster than 4G and copes better in busy places like stations, stadiums and city centres. It's most useful if you stream, download big files or use your phone as a hotspot. If you mostly message, browse and use maps, a good 4G signal is plenty, so don't pay extra just for the 5G label.
The good news is that none of the networks above charge more for 5G, so you get it when it's available without paying for it when it isn't.
